Spanish 2

I am a high school Spanish teacher in rural Tennessee. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language and International Trade from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2008, a Master’s degree from Virginia Tech in Hispanic Studies in 2011, and recently finished Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have studied abroad at the University of Guanajuato and the University of Xalapa, both in Mexico.

I currently teach Spanish II using a blended comprehensible input/ direct instruction method focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the target language. I have taught Spanish 1-3 at the high school level, I have taught introductory Spanish 1-2 at the university level, I have tutored ages ranging from 5-55 and I love sharing what I know!

My research interests include Dynamic Assessment, Sociocultural Theory, and study abroad across the curriculum. When I am not working or studying I enjoy traveling the world, rescuing dogs and cats, and hiking.
