This week’s student of the week features Junior Renee Martin. Renee is the daughter of Jon and Michelle Martin of the Beechgrove community.

She is an amazing example of what CHS is about. Renee is a member of HOSA, the Spanish Club, the Math Club, FCA, and the Timothy Club. She is also on the CHS track team, where her 4X800 relay team earned 1st in the district meet last year, and is a part of the dedication choir at her church. Not only is she a member of these organizations, Renee is also the president of the Timothy Club, which is a bible study she organizes, and she is currently planning to run for a second term as Math Club vice president. Her English teacher, Mrs. Winton, says “She is an excellent student academically and very respectful to her teachers and peers.”

Renee stays busy outside of school as well. She is a member of the Middle Tennessee Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, where she volunteers every week with the bus pick up for students who have no way to church. She also volunteers and the church’s junior camp every year. She enjoys running track, playing softball, and lifting weights in Coach Horn’s weight lifting class. Somehow she also finds time to work at Marcrom’s Pharmacy in Manchester.

After high school Renee plans to seek a medical degree in physical therapy and then pursue a career as a physical therapist.
