Middle Tennessee State University's Educational Talent Search Program:  METS Application

What is METS?

The MTSU Educational Talent Search (METS) program is an educational enhancement program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. It is a component of Middle Tennessee State University and serves 6th through 12th grade students in Coffee, Cannon, Grundy, and Warren Counties. METS motivates students to set and pursue achievable career and educational goals.

Along with educational and financial aid counseling, METS provides participants with many opportunities to attend field trips to Tennessee colleges and area businesses, thus helping them explore a variety of options. METS advisors inspire participants to invest in their futures and achieve their fullest potential.

METS Mission

  • Identify qualified youth with a potential for postsecondary education.

  • Publicize the availability of student financial assistance to those seeking a postsecondary education.

  • Encourage participants to complete a secondary education and undertake a program of postsecondary education as well as encourage those who have not completed either to reenter an appropriate educational program.

METS Participants Will...

Graduate from high school.

More than 95 percent of Educational Talent Search students graduate from high school.

Go to college.

79 percent of Talent Search students enroll in a postsecondary program.

Receive financial aid and scholarship information.

More than 95 percent of Talent Search students receive help applying for financial aid and 65 percent receive financial aid and/or scholarships.
