Laura Carlson teaches Spanish 2 and Spanish 2 Honors at Coffee County Central High School.  This is Sra. (Señora) Carlson’s first year as a full time CCHS teacher, but she enjoyed teaching for Sra. Garcia during her maternity leave in the 2015-2016 school year.  This is Sra. Carlson’s 10th year of teaching Spanish. She has taught in Alabama and Mississippi.

Sra. Carlson graduated from Samford University in 1999 where she majored in Spanish Education. During her youth, Sra. Carlson enjoyed traveling to Mexico with her church for mission trips. It was there that she realized speaking another language gave her new opportunities to build relationships with people from different backgrounds than her own. It gave her an appreciation for Mexican culture and food. She studied abroad in Costa Rica while at Samford and has traveled to Spain, Mexico and Honduras during the last few decades. Sra. Carlson looks forward to teaching you a new language and a new way to look at the world.

“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.” -Nelson Mandela
